Luxury Tourist Train Set to Link Uzbekistan’s Historic Cities by 2026
Uzbekistan recently unveiled plans to launch a luxury tourist train in late 2026 that will connect travelers to the country’s historic silk road cities in style and comfort.
The Golden Eagle Trans-Uzbekistan Express will embark on 8-day, 7-night journeys highlighting the nation’s rich culture, architecture, and natural beauty. Stopping in destinations like Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, passengers will enjoy premium accommodations aboard vintage train cars as they retrace ancient trade routes.
“This new rail experience will showcase Uzbekistan’s captivating blend of modern vibrancy and ancient roots,” said Tourism Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov. He noted surging interest in rail adventures combining scenic landscapes with luxury amenities.
The tourist train aims to provide a unique window into Uzbekistan’s heritage invigorated today by modern culture and architecture. Passengers will savor gourmet fare in opulent dining cars between stops offering walking tours, cultural shows, and visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites. With just 100 travelers per journey, the experience promises intimate connections with destinations.
Abdukhakimov emphasized the train’s alignment with goals to expand sustainable tourism. “This offers travelers a meaningful way to engage deeply with our cities and communities away from crowded tourist hubs.”
As Central Asia’s most populated country, Uzbekistan has invested in recent years in renewing transport networks. The new Golden Eagle train set to start rolling in 2026 will further open the country to discerning global travelers seeking memorable journeys off the beaten path.
