WTTC

The vibrant capital of Rwanda is preparing to welcome the world as host of the upcoming World Travel & Tourism Council’s 23rd Global Summit, a prominent industry event converging top travel leaders, ministers, and CEOs from November 1st-3rd.

WTTC’s annual Global Summit is the most influential Travel & Tourism event on the calendar, and this year, industry leaders will once again gather with key government representatives to continue aligning efforts to support the sector’s recovery and move beyond to a safer, more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.

Across Kigali, anticipation is building with banners promoting the summit appearing on streets. Enhanced security has also mobilized with increased police presence, especially around the Kigali Convention Centre and airport.

As attendees from over 60 countries arrive, they will experience Kigali’s renowned warm hospitality firsthand. Tourism is a growing economic pillar for Rwanda, accounting for over 12% of GDP pre-pandemic. Officials are eager to showcase the destination’s offerings from wildlife encounters to cultural experiences.

The WTTC Global Summit provides a platform for public and private sector leaders to align on recovery, sustainability, and innovation priorities. This year’s theme “Travel for a Better Future” resonates deeply in Rwanda, where responsible tourism drives community development.

Kigali itself promises pleasant discovery with its lush hillside location, clean streets, and cultural attractions – a walkable, dynamic African hub. But the real treasures lie across the countryside.

As Rwanda signals its preparedness for the global spotlight, Secretary General Madam Gloria Guevara noted the significant opportunity ahead. “The WTTC Global Summit allows Rwanda to proudly showcase its warm culture and natural beauty while reinforcing its growing influence as a rising regional leader in sustainable tourism.”
