Kenya Airways Takes Punctuality Crown as Africa’s Most On-Schedule Airline
Nairobi – Kenya Airways (KQ) has emerged as Africa’s most punctual airline in 2023 based on in-depth flight data analysis. KQ achieved an on-time arrival rate over 70% beating perennial punctuality leader Ethiopian Airlines.
Aviation analytics firm Cirium reviewed the performance of over 41,900 Kenya Airways flights last year and found the East African carrier completed over 30,000 on schedule. This 71.86% on-time arrival rate topped fellow national airline Ethiopian’s previous dominance of African punctuality charts.The accolade demonstrates Kenya Airways’ success optimizing operational efficiency despite congested African airspace faced by all regional carriers. While KQ’s fleet is smaller than rivals, the airline schedules realistic ground times and utilizes newer planes requiring less maintenance downtime.
