Angola Rolls Out Welcome Mat to International Visitors.
The southwest African nation of Angola is opening its doors and rolling out the welcome mat to tourists from across the globe. Last week, the Angolan government approved a resolution allowing citizens from over 90 countries to enter visa-free for 90-day visits.
The policy change has been praised by Angolans eager to boost tourism and forge people-to-people connections.
“This is great news for our country,” said Touré Santos, an Angolan entrepreneur and owner of a travel agency in the capital Luanda. “Easing visa restrictions will bring more visitors to experience Angola’s incredible natural beauty, diverse cultures, and warm hospitality.”
Fourteen African nations are included on the 90-day visa exemption list, enabling more continental travel. Angola also aims to increase visitors from Europe, Asia, and the Americas through the new resolution.
“As a tour guide, I’m excited to showcase our beaches, historic sites, and wildlife to international guests,” said Lima Pierre, an Angolan guide who leads trips to destinations like the scenic Calandula Falls.
The visa policy aligns with Angola’s recent focus on expanding its tourism industry. State-owned TAAG Angola Airlines has added new flight routes to make it easier for travelers to reach the country. Angola is eager to highlight attractions like the Namib Desert, Portuguese colonial architecture, and rich musical traditions for visitors.
While known for oil and diamond mining, Angola hopes tourism will soon be another signature feature of its growing economy. By easing visa restrictions, Angola takes a vital step toward welcoming the world.
